Carrie Ostrem
AVP, Certification Services
Under Carrie's leadership, CU Strategic Planning has obtained CDFI certification for over 200 credit unions! She's doubled the size of the department and obtained certifications for credit unions that were absolutely serving the underserved and unfortunately told that they could not be certified. Carrie educates credit unions and sets them on a course to obtain the CDFI certification they deserved. That includes credit unions denied CDFI certification using the NCUA's expedited CDFI certification application process, and those denied by other consultants. Carrie fundamentally believes that credit unions are community development organizations founded to serve people of modest means with international operating principles demonstrating a mission of community development and volunteer boards accountable to their communities.
Carrie draws on her extensive background working with credit unions to facilitate and direct CU Strategic Planning’s CDFI certification services. Prior to Carrie's decade with CU Strategic Planning, she spent 10 years working at a $550 million dollar credit union where she gained invaluable knowledge from her experiences working in member services, collections, internal auditing, and focusing on compliance and procedural practices.
Carrie has lived in Seattle and the Midwest. She has a degree in Communications from the University of North Dakota. When it’s rainy outside, Carries enjoys watching movies and reading.
