Joe is a powerhouse in the credit union world with half a century working in financial services, and he’s here at CU Strategic Planning as Executive Vice President of CU Results to reach even more credit unions and unlock opportunities for them all.

Most recently before joining us, he served as SVP and Chief Lending Officer of Financial Partners Credit Union. Prior to that he served as President of the CUSO CU Rate Reset and CEO of GTE Financial. During his tenure there he was named CEO Trailblazer of the Year by the CU Times in 2013. Joe spent 15 years at BECU where he went from Director of Consumer Loans to Chief Lending Officer to EVP. While at BECU, he formed Prime Alliance Solutions, a mortgage technology solution to more than 600 credit unions, and served as Chief Executive Officer/Founder and Chairman of the Board until it merged with Mortgage Cadence in 2013.

A longtime friend of CU Strategic Planning, Joe sought our assistance while at Financial Partners to achieve CDFI Certification for the credit union, followed by nearly $39 million in CDFI Fund and US Treasury funding in the three years following.

Always passionate about the missions of CDFIs, Joe has channeled that passion into creating viable and sustainable programs to address the issues of the un- and underbanked during his many credit union years. His success is reflected in the numerous awards he’s been given and in 2015 he was named one of the 80 most influential credit union leaders in the past 80 years. His strength and leadership in effective lending has earned him numerous CUNA Lending Council Excellence in Lending awards and its first Phil Greer Lifetime Achievement award.

Joe holds a BA in Economics and English from Hofstra University and has completed Stanford University’s Executive Development Program. He currently lives in Los Angeles County and keeps finding reasons to not retire.
